Surroundings:
The chalet is located in the Italian town of Porlezza just across the border from Switzerland to Italy. Every year a large number of holiday makers come here to enjoy this fantastic place on the lake between the mountains. Because of this central location it is ideal to make nice day trips to for example Milan, Lugano, Lake Maggiore, Como and there are several nice villages nearby. In the immediate vicinity there is possibility for walking, cycling and boat trips through these beautiful nature.
Balcony of Italy
Val d’Intelvi (the balcony of Italy) is also more than worth it. Here you can see the entire Lake Lugano, with the snow-covered peaks of the Alps in the background in clear weather. You can reach the balcony of Italy by driving along the south side along the lake to Lanzo. In Lanzo follow the tourist route to Sighignola (brown route sign). Back in Lanzo, the mountain route via Arogno to Maroggia is recommended. From there you can return to Lugano and Porlezza via the highway or provincial road along the lake.
Monte San Salvator
The top is accessible by cable car. The valley station is only 500 m away from the Lugano-Sud motorway exit and 5 minutes from Lugano-Paradiso station. Parking is available just in front of the station. The new panorama cars take guests to San Salvatore within 15 minutes. The course is in use all day from March to November and leaves every 30 minutes. In the summer the last trip to the valley leaves at 11 p.m. (+/- € 19, - pp) From the roof of the church you can enjoy a unique view in all directions. From the top you can descend on the panoramic road on foot to Ciona (Carona), but you can also take a detour , in the form of two learning paths through a nature reserve where hikers are introduced to the flora and fauna of this region. There is also a restaurant here where you can eat and drink something. There are playgrounds for the children and other activities at the top such as a toboggan run. Porlezza
Porlezza is a municipality in the Italian province of Como (Lombardy region) located on Lake Lugano. It has 4325 inhabitants (31-12-2004). The area is 18.7 km², the population density is 230 inhabitants per km². Porlezza is the first fairly large Italian place when you cross the border from Switzerland along Lake Lugano.
